Energy and building-controls survey

Get more out of the lighting controls, BMS and sensors you already own.

A scoped, fixed-fee review of how your lighting controls, BMS and sensors are actually running, and a prioritised plan for getting more out of the systems you already own.

Who it's for

Systems that aren't doing what they were specified to do.

Estates, energy and facilities managers at hospitals, universities, offices and industrial sites with existing lighting controls or a BMS, who suspect the systems aren't doing what they were specified to do, or aren't working together.

How it works

Scope, survey, report.

  1. 01

    Scope

A short call on building count, floor area, which controls and BMS are in, and what drawings and data exist. You get a price before anything starts.

  2. 02

    Survey

On site and, where you can give access, remotely. Configuration, schedules, sensor coverage, integration points, and where the energy is actually going.

  3. 03

    Report

A plain-English, prioritised plan: quick wins, integration opportunities, and what to leave alone. Walked through with you, not just emailed.

The detail

What's reviewed, and what you get.

What's reviewed

  • Lighting-control configuration: occupancy, daylight, schedules, dwell times
  • BMS setpoints, schedules and overrides against actual building use
  • Sensor coverage and data quality: what's measured, what's missing
  • Integration between lighting, HVAC and BMS (BACnet, APIs, protocols)
  • Network and IT dependencies, access, and remote-monitoring options
  • Metering, and where the consumption is really coming from

What you get

  • A prioritised action list, each item with effort, likely impact and who can do it
  • Configuration changes you can make now, with no capital spend
  • Integration options for using occupancy and environmental data to drive HVAC
  • A clear view of what your current systems can and can't do
  • Optional follow-on: we build the integrations and set up monitoring

Why controls, not kit. Most estates already own more capability than they use. Getting lighting, sensors and HVAC to share data usually saves more than replacing hardware — and on several projects we've worked on, the HVAC savings driven from the lighting system were greater than the lighting system's own energy use.

Questions

Frequently asked questions.

How much does a survey cost?
It's a fixed fee, set after a short scoping call about building count, floor area, which controls and BMS are in, and what drawings and data exist. You get the price before anything starts.
Do you need to be on site?
Yes, for at least part of it. Where you can give access, we also review configuration, schedules and data remotely.
Is this a route to selling us new hardware?
No. The report says what to leave alone as well as what to change, and it starts with configuration changes you can make now with no capital spend.
Can you make the changes the report recommends?
Yes, if you want us to. The follow-on is optional: we build the integrations and set up monitoring, or the action list says who else can do each item.

  • Engineer-led, not a body shop. The person quoting the job is the person on your site.
  • Integration is the hard part — and our strong suit. Getting lighting, power and sensors to speak to the BMS is where projects usually stall. It's where we start.
  • We write the bridge when there isn't one. Custom interpreters and data conversion (MQTT ⇄ BACnet) when off-the-shelf kit won't talk.
  • Documentation that passes first time. Test records, as-builts and O&M packs that inspectors accept.
